New Visitor Service For LASYS 2010: Solution Center For Production Problems

January 15, 2010

"Seek and you shall find". This wise Biblical saying can sometimes be difficult to apply to real life, even for the more simple tasks we face. It is not always easy to find the needle in the haystack, something which applies for highly specialised trade fairs too. However, this is no longer the case, or at least not for LASYS 2010. A special new visitor service has been added to the event line-up with "Solution Center – meet the experts": an independent, established advisory service for all kinds of production problems. This Solution Center is the brainchild of the experts on the LASYS advisory council. Centrally located in Hall 1 and at their own trade fair stands, experts from renowned research institutes will be on hand from 8 to 10 June 2010 to answer any questions visitors may have regarding laser production, as well as to recommend the appropriate manufacturers for specific production problems. The information given is both free and impartial.

"With the Solution Center, we would like to convince as many trade fair visitors as possible of the advantages to innovative laser technology and to recommend individual solutions for their particular problems. Visitors should bring their parts and products with them to the fair and we can show them, using these examples, the potential laser-based production can offer. We want to make the introduction to laser technology easier, as well as open up new possibilities in laser material processing to existing users; ideally to act as a link between the system manufacturers and the users", explains Prof. Thomas Graf, Director of theInstitut für Strahlwerkzeuge(IFSW)of the University of Stuttgart, regarding the intentions of the participating research institutes. "In order for the concept of the advisory service to be taken seriously, we are placing great importance on impartial specialist support", emphasises Prof. Graf.

All the research centres who were asked to participate agreed to do so. Which is good news for the visitors: a veritable who's who of the German laser research scene will be taking part in "Solution Center – meet the experts". Participants such as the Bavarian Laser Centre (blz), the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology (ILT), the Fraunhofer Institute for Material and Beam Technology (IWS), the Laser Centre in Hannover and the IFSW Institut für Strahlwerkzeuge of Stuttgart University. The latter participant, present as a member of the LASYS advisory council and co-initiator, will also be responsible for the professional organisation of the advisory trade fair stand. Alternating experts will provide visitors with advice at the Solution Center stand.

About LASYS
LASYS will be taking place from 8 to 10 June 2010 on the grounds of the Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre, directly beside the airport. It is the first specialist trade fair, covering a comprehensive range of materials and industries, for system solutions in laser material processing. Something which has already been proven with the trade fair's first appearance in March 2008 to which visitors from over 30 industries came. Every fourth visitor represented the mechanical engineering industry, followed by metalworking and metal processing, the electrical and electronics industry, the optical industry, plant and apparatus engineering, medical engineering, automotive engineering, precision engineering and the plastics industry. Also present were specialist visitors from the glass industry, the timber industry, the jewellery industry, the textile industry and the packaging industry, as well as toolmaking and mouldmaking. A cross-section of industries which emphasises the impressive versatility of the laser.

LASYS will be open daily from 09.00 until 17.00.

From 8 to 10 June, O&S, the trade fair for surface treatments and coatings, will be taking place parallel to LASYS 2010.
