Live From DSS 2011: Night Vision Display Test System Demo

April 29, 2011

Alex Fong, senior VP of life sciences and instrumentation with Gooch & Housego, demonstrates the OL 770-NVS Night Vision Display Test and Measurement System for NVIS-compatible displays. The system is comprised of two main elements: a spectroradiometer, the company's OL 770-NVS system with an extra-sensitive NIR component to it, and an OL620 imaging telescope. The telescope is offered with a variety of different lens, but the version used in this demo is the standard lens that comes with it for compliance with MIL-L-85762A and MIL-STD-3009.

Fong captures a live shot — a continuous scan — of the exhibit hall using the system's software, and shows the spectral profile, the area of interest in the image, and the CIE plot. Shape tables can be uploaded into the CIE plot so that you can indicate whether or not you're going in and out of that boundary. There are also compliance tables for each of the different standards. The system can also be used for measuring aircraft interior cabin lighting and any kind of exterior pulse cabin lighting, as well.
