New 5 Watt Laser Diode

Now available through Pacer Components, Coherent Semiconductor Division has released a 5Watt CW Laser Diode in the 790nm-813nm range for Solid State Laser pumping, direct thermal medical, and material processing applications. Based on the novel Active Area Aluminium (AAA) Free technology which has extended diode lifetimes, the broad area emitter comprises 3 facets of 150um length on 25 micron gaps, making an overall emission area of 500umx1um. The device is mounted on a standard 10.5mm wide, by 25mm long conduction cooled package and operates at typically less than 6Amperes and under 2Volts. Consistent with its other emitters, the divergence is a lower than average 35x10degree's with fast axis collimated versions to be announced soon, and fibre coupled high brightness packages to follow.
