Features & Benefits of the BX51 Upright Microscope

Ergonomic refinements to the performance proven Y shape design

  • Our ergonomic Y-shaped frame offers maximum stability and comfort, with low position focus control knobs located on both the left and right sides of the frame. The fine focus section can be removed and attached to either side of the stand for your convenience. The light touch fingertip operation allows for quick focusing. The BX51RF Upright Microscope includes a low position stage holder to accommodate samples up to 65mm.

Excellent image clarity and superb resolution for varied inspection demands with UIS optics:

  • UIS optics deliver bright, sharp, high-resolution images suitable for all observation methods: brightfield, darkfield, differential interference contrast, polarization, fluorescence, infra-red.

Greater system flexibility to select and combine components:

  • Our modular design and infinity optics system allows you to customize your microscope for your specific requirements.

Reflected light illuminators with field and highly functional aperture diaphragm compliments the super high magnification 150x and 250x objectives. The pinhole feature provides extra high contrast observation with extended focus depth.

  • Brightfield illuminator - available with or field or aperture stops
  • Brightfield/Darkfield illuminator - now provide darkfield improvements with imagedetail twice as bright upon a dark background (Available in manual or motorized version)
  • Universal BF/DF/DIC/POL/FL illuminator - has a 6-position turret for combining cube modules for various image forming techniques (Available in manual or motorized version)

New DIC (Nomarski) units provide combinations for all specimens and magnifications with increased contrast or resolution. There are three series of DIC prisms to generate three levels of contrast/resolution. In addition to the current set of standard prisms, a series of high contrast prisms and high resolution prisms have been developed to produce high-quality images for your most demanding requirements.

Polarized light accessories - Strainfree optics, condenser with 360° rotatable polarizer, 360° rotatable measuring analyzer, rotatable ball-bearing stage with 0.1° vernier scale, focusable Bertrand lens, 4 & 6 position centerable nosepieces, cross-hair and scale bar eyepieces, and qualitative & quantitative measuring compensators. Compensators include a 1/4 wave plate, full wave plate, de Senarmont, Berek (3 lambda & 20 lambda), Brace Köhler (1/10 lambda & 1/30 lambda), and four-order quartz wedge.

Fluorescence applications can be done by attaching a fluorescence illuminator that results in greater mechanical and thermal stability. The accompanying fluorescence illuminator, BX-URA2, incorporates a six-cube filter turret including front shutter control. The newly-developed aspherical lens within the lamp houses allows fluorescent illumination of up to double the brightness of existing models. To restrict the illumination to the need of any camera type, the BX2-RFA illuminator allows the substitution of the conventional circular field stop by a rectangular field diaphragm. As an Olympus accessory, two excitation balancers can be attached to the BX2-RFA illuminator.

Filters insert easily into the vertical illuminators. A wide variety exists including neutral density, UV cut, light balancing, and IR bandpass. The BX 51TRF frame (for transmitted light applications) has two built-in neutral density filters (ND6, ND25), one daylight balancing filter, and one empty slot for an optional filter of your choice.

The confocal intermediate module attachment is ideal for viewing multi-layered circuits.

Lamp Housings - Four available options provide flexibility in intensity and lifetime: 12V/100W halogen, Xenon/Mercury arc lamps, the long life Metal Halide and cold light fiber optics.

Observation Tubes - A choice of standard or tilting binocular and trinocular versions for visual viewing or camera attachment.

Wide 22 or 26.5mm field of view eyepieces reduces scanning time by covering a larger specimen area.

Stages attach via a dovetail mount and secure firmly in place. Right or left side x-y controls, movements of 3" x 2", 4" x 4", with glass, metal or wafer inserts. 360 degree rotating models with vernier scale and engageable clickstops.

Nosepieces with tight tolerances ensure parcentricity and are available in manual or motorized versions.

Transmitted light accessories such as condensers to provide critical Koehler illumination.

Easy adaptation of digital cameras, image analysis software and automated accessories.

  • Our full line of video and digital cameras provide viewing and speedy image transfer to computers.
  • The Discover Series Image Analysis Software has been designed specifically for industrial microscopy applications. Intuitive menus and advanced software routines empower the user with the latest image analysis and management solutions.
