Integrated Raman Spectrometer: IDRaman reader

Source: Ocean Optics, Inc.

Ocean Optics’ IDRaman reader incorporates a high-sensitivity spectrometer with Raster Orbital Scanning technology (ROS), allowing for high-sensitivity and high resolution Raman spectra measurements from surfaces, vials, and cuvettes.

Raster Orbital Scanning technology provides the best possible Raman data by scanning a tightly focused beam over a large sample area. This is an ideal solution when compared to the alternatives – a tightly focused beam that can miss the Raman target completely, or increasing the spot size of the laser as this can dilute valuable information on the material being measured.

There are three main ways that the IDRaman reader samples material.

  1. You can point the source knob down and measure the area directly below the device, and adjust the focus for maximum sensitivity.
    1. This method is particularly well suited for Raman measurements or for reading SERS substrates.
  2. You can use the adjustable-focus sample chamber to sample vials from the bottom.
  3. You can sample from the side of a cuvette or vial.

The integrated Raman spectrometer is available in 532, 638, 785, or 808 nm laser excitation wavelengths. The 785 and 808nm configurations are available with two resolution options.
