The new CMOS linear image sensor, the S10077, can be used in analytical instruments, position detecting devices such as optical encoders, barcode scanners, and other image readers. The S10077 is built around a 1,024-pixel line sensor with superfine 50 µm x 14 µm pixels. It offers a fast readout rate of 1 MHz, and includes an on-chip charge amplifier to produce clearer output signals. Output is either 8-bit or 10-bit, user selectable.
The S10077 is the first CMOS linear image sensor from Hamamatsu to include a built-in A/D converter, a feature that will help device designers reduce overall board size. Moreover, the sensor requires only a single power supply (typically 5 V) and two input pulses (start and clock) for operation.
Other convenient features of the S10077 include simultaneous charge integration and a variable integration time function. Spectral response range is from 400 to 1000 nm, with peak sensitivity at 700 nm.
