Spectra-Physics Unveils Ultra-Compact Femtosecond Laser

• New air-cooled ultrafast laser is ideal for fixed wavelength multiphoton imaging and nano-structuring

Spectra-Physics, a Newport company, introduces HighQ-2, a new ultra-compact, air-cooled, fixed wavelength industrial femtosecond (fs) laser. The ultrafast laser deliversshort pulses, high peak power (>190 kW) and a highly focusable beam profile, making it perfect for fixed wavelength multiphoton imaging, micro- and nano-structuring, micro- and nano-surgery, and micro-dissection applications.

“HighQ-2 is a new class of industrial femtosecond lasers with exceptionally precise performance in a tiny, air-cooled package,” says Klaus Madlener, managing director for Spectra-Physics in Rankweil, Austria. “The new laser is ideal for powering a range of high precision applications in bio-imaging, bio-medical and microprocessing that require a near-perfectly controlled beam and ultrashort pulse.”

Available in infrared (IR) and green wavelengths, HighQ-2 has a tiny footprint of <9 x 8 x 4 inches (222 x 204 x 101 mm) and is a reliable OEM laser for 24/7 operation. The laser has the combination of true turnkey operation and fast, cold-start turn-on, making it quick and easy to install and operate.HighQ-2 is equipped with long-life diodes, a sealed optical cavity design, and is manufactured in a controlled, clean room environment. The result is a highly dependable laser with long lifetime, high uptime, and low cost of ownership.
